With a design thinking approach, we go deep into the lives of identified sub-segments and identify the areas which are the bottlenecks in either mindset and/or the situations. We ideate and together with the Vyapaari’s ecosystem design a solution, which is then prototyped rigorously and measured for scalable impact potential.
Vyapaar believes in creating system level scale, with potential for each solution to reach a minimum of 100K vyapaaris and provide a 2 fold benefit:

A mission to empower food street vendors and small hotel business owners, by onboarding them onto popular food delivery aggregator platforms like Swiggy, Zomato, ONDC, and more. Through digital enablement, we are enabling these entrepreneurs to grow their businesses, expand their reach, and embrace the digital age for a prosperous future.
A mission to enable Rural and Peri-Urban Enterprises towards improving their systems, methods of working, address key business challenges and finally increase their earnings. Many of these are Women run enterprises that are supported through Self Help Groups (SHGs). Udhyam Vyapaar is currently working in the field directly with these Nano-Enterprises on a pilot program and helping them improve their Sourcing, Market Reach, Training and adopt Innovative Solutions. The solutions thus worked out for each sector will then be targeted for scaling up throughout India.

Venkatesh used a coal ironing box and earned INR 400-500 daily, but his income increased 1.4 times after transitioning to LPG ironing boxes as now he can iron more clothes. Finishing is perfect in the LPG iron box. He says, “Customers used to be unhappy with us whenever their clothes got burnt due to coal. Now we do not have any such problems. Further, coal has to be changed 4-5 times a day. This time can be saved if you use an LPG iron box. The best part of this iron box is that we can adjust the heat based on the type of clothes we are ironing.”

I hail from a family of ironing vyapaaris. However, I decided to start my own beauty parlour. During the pandemic, I started offering beauty services at home and took orders through WhatsApp. I ensured that I maintain hygiene while treating my clients, and this made my customers trust me. With the support of INR 10,000 (received from Udhyam Vyapaar during COVID lockdown), I could stock up on beauty products and hence, in addition to my regular services, I was able to start selling beauty products.

I provided tailor services for my business but COVID caused my business to shut down. Making use of the cash grants by Udhyam Vyapaar in the first wave of COVID and some training sessions I had attended, it was possible to start a new business. I rented a cart and started selling vegetables and flowers. I began offering home deliveries of groceries and took orders for vegetables & groceries on WhatsApp. Udhyam Vyapaar also enabled me to adopt UPI to avail Udhyami Loan
